Course Detail: WTSN112 - Substation Apprenticeship 1B

This 15-week course meets six times. As a result of this course students will be able to demonstrate minimum approach distance and discuss safe work standards and practices when dealing with chemical, physical, and electrical hazards within substations and switchyards and when dealing with substation equipment; describe and demonstrate proper use and reading of multimeters and other measuring instruments; solve for the electrical value of parallel circuits using Kirchhoff's Laws and Norton's and Superposition Theorems; determine correct wire size and calculate wire resistance; and describe safe use of and troubleshoot problems with line test equipment, and bucket trucks, including safety practices, grounding, capacity and load indicators, controls and hydraulic systems.
