Course Detail: WTME122 - Meter Apprenticeship 2B

This 15-week class meets twice a month for 8 hours. Students must attend 40 hours of labs. As a result of this training students will be able to discuss safety protocols including hazardous energy control (lockout/tagout) procedures; identify the use, parts, and characteristics, then demonstrate the safe installation and troubleshooting of potential problems with polyphase watt-hour meters; demonstrate the testing and the purpose of testing meter mounting installation devices; define the relationship between resistance, inductance, and capacitance, then calculate the voltage, current, apparent, true and reactive power, impedance, resistance, inductive reactance, and power factor for resistive-inductive capacitive series and parallel circuits; and discuss single-phase and three-phase transformers, determine polarity, calculate voltage and current load, and correctly connect different transformers based upon markings on a schematic diagram.
