Kathy Schermer-Gramm is a Society of Botanical Artists Fellow who was raised in Southern California earning her master's degree in illustration from California State University, Fullerton. Her previous careers include that of award winning editorial illustrator, university art professor, nature educator, and elementary art teacher. Kathy's current botanically inclusive drawings and watercolor paintings focusing on locally grown edibles and Southeastern Piedmont flora began while enrolled in the North Carolina Botanical Garden's Botanical Art Certification Program over twenty years ago of which she now holds the only Honorary Graduation Certificate for her work. She is a core faculty member at this garden since 2012 continuing to teach and share with students from around the world her passion for botanical art through on site and online courses.

She has also previously taught botanical art and exhibited at the Sawtooth School-Visual Arts, and the Florence Thomas Art School. Her artwork appeared in the American Society of Botanical Artists: Abundant Future Exhibition as well as several ASBA's Annual International Annuals, the prestigious Birds in Art (Woodson Art Museum), along with other international juried exhibitions.
