In addition to having fun, this camp aims to empower students in the kitchen with the confidence to be able to make their own meals from start to finish. Every day will begin by preparing a rub or marinade for a different cut of steak, followed by each student making their own omelet. From carne asada tacos to rib eye steak with scalloped potatoes to mastering how to make a satisfying meal out of an omelet, students will learn the important life skill of learning how to cook for themselves. This camp promises 4 days of handmade baking fun, creativity, and delicious treats! Learn to make homemade bread, colorful cookies and cupcakes, and more perfect-for-summer treats from scratch. This hands-on camp is perfect for beginners and budding bakers who want to learn new skills, experiment with colorful recipes, and bring their sweet and savory ideas to life!

Awaken your child's creative expression with Photography! This is a hands-on photography camp taught by professional photographers, Steve Giardini and Matt Adams. Each student will receive a digital camera to use during camp, and take home at the end of camp. Students will practice taking action shots, portrait photos, nature and expressive photos, and abstract photos. The instructor will review photos each day, providing feedback and guidance. Students will have the opportunity to be inspired by professional photography at its best, and learn how the photographer captured each shot! At the end of the week, students will receive an album of the each student's best photos to take home. For students aged 10-15.

Put a bird on it! Explore the world of birds with this 2-day camp that combines time in the classroom each morning followed by a birding field trip. Learn about bird identification and their ecology, and then use binoculars - and your own ears - to identify local birds by sight and sound. Taught by nature enthusiast and biologist, Damian Fagan, who has spent decades conducting bird surveys and fields trips for songbirds, owls, raptors, and greater sage-grouse. Binoculars are provided for use during the camp. Ages 10-15.

In this class, you are all that stands between a group of international hackers launching cyber attacks and world peace. Through a series of challenges, students will learn to apply tools used by professional digital forensics teams to crack codes and use encryption. Over 400 million people watched YouTube videos and Twitch streams of video game competitions this year alone! Art surrounds us. In this hands-on nature journaling camp where science, art, and curiosity come together. Campers will explore the natural world through sketching, writing, and focused observation-both in the classroom and out in the field - over the course of three weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Using graphite, pen and ink, and watercolor, students will develop foundational drawing skills while learning to document their discoveries in personal field journals. They'll combine images, words, and numbers to communicate their experiences and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Indoor sessions focus on developing artistic technique, while outdoor field trips immerse students in the landscapes of Central Oregon, fostering careful observation and thoughtful reflection.
Guided by themes of stewardship, scientific thinking, and creative expression, this camp welcomes all skill levels. Led by COCC Fine Art Instructor James Adams-whose professional life blends art, science, and the outdoors-participants will gain confidence and insight through engaging, supportive instruction. Gelli plate printing is a non-mechanical printmaking technique that allow students to work with a variety of art materials and be creative in the classroom. In this camp students will apply acrylic paints onto a gel plate with a roller, and use stencils and textured materials like leaves, feathers, netting, and bubble wrap to craft individual print pieces. On the final day, students will select their favorite prints for a gallery show for parents. Taught by professional photographer, Steve Giardini. Ages 10-15.

NW Cyber Camp is designed to teach high school students, grades 8-11, about cybersecurity concepts and technologies, ethics, and career opportunities in the field. There are no pre-requisites for this camp, other than general experience with computers and a real interest in learning about cybersecurity. The curriculum is designed to be approachable, and all concepts will be introduced starting at fundamentals. Additionally, students with prior computer technical experience will have an opportunity to explore advanced topics & challenges, providing learning opportunities for students of every skill level.

Volcanic eruptions have shaped the landscape of Central Oregon, making it a geologic wonder to explore. Dig into this geologic adventure with COCC Geology faculty and get to know the exciting backdrop of our area. This camp features two days in the classroom and two days in the field on trips to volcanic areas within an hour of Bend. Hands-on projects investigating aspects of volcanic eruptions are the cornerstone of the classroom, and the field trips aim to kick curiosity and experiential learning into high gear. Field trips will include hikes up to 2 miles on irregular terrain. Campers should bring lunch, water, and sun protection for those days, and wear appropriate footwear. Taught by COCC Geology faculty, Dr. Betsy Julian and Elizabeth Rhodes. Ages 12-15.

Led by veteran coach Dan Murnan, this camp is perfect for intermediate to advanced junior golfers aspiring to play on a team or already competing. Day 1 features a classroom session focused on mental preparation and strategy, and days two and three take place at Widgi Creek Golf Club, covering driving, putting, short game, and course management. In this camp, students will experience the exciting field of Manga drawing, an immersive storytelling style made popular in Japanese comics. Students will learn the basics of illustration in the Manga style, and will have time to practice sketching people, facial features, hair, clothing, gesture, and facial expression, as well as learning inking, and color techniques. Principles of drawing and using Copic markers will be utilized. At the end of the camp, students will have created their own Manga character! No experience necessary in drawing to join the fun! Step into the exciting world of metal fabrication! This hands-on camp is perfect for students with no prior experience in metalwork. Throughout the week, students will learn to safely operate welding equipment, prepare and join metal using GMAW welding, and cut metal using a CNC Plasma machine. Students will combine these skills to design and create their own unique metal sculpture. Taught by expert faculty from the COCC Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center (MATC), this engaging and interactive camp is open to students ages 12-15 who can follow safety protocols and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Sew It Yourself aims to be so fun! In this introduction to sewing, students will make their own pajama pants as they learn all about using a sewing machine: how to thread it, what in the world a bobbin is, and what all those dials and knobs do. Basics of reading a sewing pattern, cutting out a garment, finishing seams, applying elastic, and hemming are among the skills to be covered. By the end of the class, students will have their very own me-made PJ pants, as well as a custom-fitted tissue paper pattern they can bring home and use to make more pants, and printed instructions for the project. Stop motion animation brings static objects to life on screen with an iPad and a variety of mixed media arts. The attitude of the Stop Motion Animation Art Youth Camp: if you can dream it, you can do it! Animation campers will explore story planning, set design, character development, and prop-making using paper, clay, drawings, and other materials with Community Education art instructor, Carolyn Parker. Students will add cool themes, titles, sound effects and special effects give the movies a unique touch and feel. Campers will apply their new knowledge to craft their own stories and create an animated scene as their project. Each student must bring their own iPad with the Stop Motion Studio Pro app already downloaded ($5.99). Ages 10-15.

In this youth camp, students will experience four different visual arts media: watercolor painting, soft pastels, drawing, and crafting with lifelong art educator, Bill Lewis. Students will increase their confidence with these visual media by participating in hands-on projects every day. Experience the magic of fun and easy watercolor techniques and create a finished watercolor painting with ink accents. Use soft pastels to create an oriental wall hanging, and learn how to draw using geometric shapes to create realistic drawings of things in the world. Students will also make their own sketch book with a unique cover that they will use throughout the camp and take home with them after camp. Join us for this fun-filled and interactive camp!
