Each class in this series will focus on a challenging part of the human body for artists. Students will work from 2D still reference images.


June 25, 2024 to July 9, 2024, W*309
Paint a picture using fundamental painting techniques and non-toxic materials. Students may select their own subject matter or work from a still life that is provided. Students will visit the Detroit Institute of Arts to find inspiration for their own work.


June 17-21, 2024, B*304
ONLINE The class will cover the essential drawing, sketching, and rendering skills automotive designers need to demonstrate their vision. Students will create a concept vehicle for the year 2050.


June 24-28, 2024, ONL
Capture the vibrant people and places of Detroit such as Eastern Market and the Dequindre Cut. Experiment in CCS state of the art photo studios. Learn to enhance your images in the digital dark room using Adobe Photoshop®.


July 8-12, 2024, W*013
Working from clothed models, students will learn the fundamental techniques to draw the human figure more realistically. This class will also sketch at the Detroit Institute of Arts.


July 15-19, 2024, W*213
Focus on the essential skills needed to create more realistic portraits such as proportions, line, and lighting. Students will work from a live, clothed model during parts of the course and visit the Detroit Institute of Arts.


July 22-26, 2024, W*213
Both beginning and experienced students will benefit from focusing on the traditional principles of figurative drawing. Form, gesture, proportion, modeling and perspective will be explored.

Present your best portfolio for college admissions to maximize your scholarship potential. Select a drawing piece to focus on throughout this class with coaching from a professional instructor. Students may bring their portfolio to the first and last day of class to receive professional guidance.
