Course Detail: CN-18-KACM - Kansas Association of City/County Management Winter Seminar
KACM Winter Seminar

Rhatigan Student Center, Beggs Ballroom 3rd Floor.
Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

New and changing demands--technology, changing demographics, new economic pressures--require governments to think differently about how they develop regulations, policies and services. Traditional approaches alone are no longer adequate in the face of competing needs and increased demand for services. Innovation in internal processes, policy design and implementation, service delivery and regulatory approaches will be critical if government is to successfully deliver services and meet budgets. This year's conference brings together leaders in innovation, creative and practical ideas and platforms for discussion on changing organizational culture to one of innovation.

Key topics will include:
  • Creating a culture of innovation - inspiration and takeaways
  • What to consider during implementation of innovative ideas - considering the punitive/regulatory environment
  • Legislative overview - what cities and counties should know
  • What innovative organizations have done - panel discussion
  • Transformation and innovation at Wichita State University
  • Tour of the GoCreate space on WSU campus

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the session starting at 9:00 a.m.

Register by January 26, 2018, for early bird rate. Regular rate applies starting on January 27.
