Historic Walking Tour of Riverside
Once on the northern edge of town, Riverside was the product of developers in the 1880s. Since that time, the neighborhood between the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers has been one of Wichita's most beloved areas, the home to great homes and modest bungalows, of parks and boathouses and even a zoo. Its story includes powerful developers who created imposing mansions, women whose activism would not be silenced and park advocates whose desire for a better quality of life has benefited many generations.
