The Advanced Field Training Officer (FTO) Course is designed for Field Training Officers who have previously completed the North Carolina Justice Academy (NCJA) 40-hour FTO program. The course is also appropriate for FTO Coordinators or Supervisors who manage and maintain their agency's FTO program. Course topics may include refresher training for communications, ethics, the roles of the FTO, coaching, counseling, civil liability, and leadership. Enhanced training and practical exercises may be provided for the topics of performance evaluations, remedial training, problem based learning, scenario based training, leadership, and promotional assessments.
