safety lessons and teach a safety lesson plan that you can use at your own fire department. You will also review new Community Risk Reduction resources that you can obtain at no cost. This class will show a new educator how to keep successful records and reports. You will review and document various fire and life safety educational programs, describe various formats, prepare written reports, and discuss time management and organizational skills. Learn how to develop and maintain a work schedule, and arrange meetings, presentations, and community events, while reducing scheduling conflicts. Discuss how to work with local media outlets and distribute fire & life safety materials and messages to the community. This is a NC Fire and Rescue Commission certification course approved for offering as of July 1, 2017. This course should be consistent with the most current Commission guidelines. This course will present the Instructor II candidate with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of NFPA 1041: Standard for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Professional Qualifications (2019 edition; Chapter 5). This certification-related course covers the knowledge, skills, and requirements referenced in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1021 Standard, 2020 edition, for Fire Officer I training. Topics include officer roles and responsibilities, community risk reduction, budgets, fire cause determination, inspections, education, leadership, management, public relations, and other requirements included in the NFPA standard. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant NFPA standards as required for state Fire Officer I certification. ICS 400
This course emphasizes large-scale organization development, roles and relationships of the primary staff, the planning, operational, logistical and fiscal consideration related to a large and complex, incident and event management. It describes the application of Area Command and the importance of interagency coordination during complex incidents and events. This course includes a final exam. Prerequisites: ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-300.

This course provides greater description and details of the Incident Command System (ICS) organization and operations, including application of essential principles and description of air operations.
