During the course of their normal duties, law enforcement officers encounter from time-to-time various levels of subject/offender resistance. This course presents officers techniques of control, take-downs and vehicle extractions when arresting and handcuffing non-complaint suspects. This course also includes laws and court rulings concerning the use of force, types of subject resistance and officer control, verbal and nonverbal cues leading to subject resistance and attacks.

The Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP) basic baton, flashlight and restraints training program is simple to learn and easy to understand. The course trains transitioning between weapons and tools through an integrated training system, as well as striking with the baton, restraint application and lighting use techniques.

This class is designed to give officers a chance to explore dynamic but natural empty-handed responses to close-quarter attacks. Officers will practice tactics that will allow them to stop, de-escalate, intercept or counter the attack through recognizing the assailant's pre-assault cues. Mental, emotional and physical barriers that occur during potentially violent encounters will also be explored and discussed during this class.

This course is designed to train and test new and veteran law enforcement officers, training officers and administrators in the decision-making process during use of force events. The training will focus on how human factors, behavior and crisis for both the subject and officer affect the decision-making process on force determination.
