This class will introduce the student with the overall goal of the Basic Training Course in RADAR Speed Measurement, the specific performance objectives of the program, and the contents of each lesson unit. It will also refresh and expand the student's knowledge of the speed problem in general, and the existing body of laws created to deal with the problem. It will also acquaint the student with basic principles of traffic RADAR and the factors that can affect the accuracy and effectiveness of RADAR units. The student will also become familiar with the operation of specific RADAR instruments and will have supervised Field practice.

It will introduce the overall goal of the Basic Training Course in LIDAR Speed measurement, the specific objectives of the program, and the contents of each lesson unit.

This class will familiarize the student with the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission's (Commission) rules and regulations, the accredited school's rules and regulations, the course schedule, standards for completion, and the performance objectives pertaining to the accredited RADAR/LIDAR Operator Training course.

This is a RADAR Recertification class. It will review the overall goal(s) of the Basic Training Course in RADAR Speed Measurement, the specific performance objectives of the program, and the contents of each lesson unit. It will refresh and expand the student's knowledge of the speed problem in general, and the existing body of laws created to deal with the problem. It will also review the basic principles of traffic RADAR and the factors that can affect the accuracy and effectiveness of RADAR units. It will also prepare the student for courtroom testimony. Last, the student will demonstrate competence in the setup, test for accuracy and operation of the RADAR unit(s) for which the officer needs certification.
