In this transitional course, we begin to situate the personal leadership journey within larger contexts: Washington state, human resources concerns, and systems thinking.

October 28, 2021 to December 10, 2021, Zoom + Canvas
In this module, we expand the circle out from leading the self to leading others in a thoughtful way that is conscious of diversity, communication styles, team development best practices, and more.

January 1, 2022 to March 10, 2022, Zoom + Canvas
In this module, students will explore topics related to the larger functioning of public sector organizations: strategic planning, budgeting, leading change, organizational culture, and performance management.

March 10, 2022 to May 19, 2022, Zoom + Canvas
We close out the CPM program by diving into the intricacies of how policy is made and evaluated, engaging with the media, and how we connect with our communities.

May 12, 2022 to June 30, 2022, Zoom + Canvas
The UW Tacoma Certified Public ManagerŪ program requires 40 hours of basic supervisory training as a prerequisite before final certification can be completed. Applicants with this work in progress may be accepted if they submit a written plan on how they will complete the work prior to the Certified Public ManagerŪ completion date. Training should be designed for supervisors and managers and have been completed within the past ten years.
