T&L 2900: ONL: Nutrition Education for the School Aged Child

This is a four unit online course that will increase your knowledge and skills in teaching Nutrition Education to the School Aged Child. The course focuses on nutrition issues affecting school-age children and their families. It examines how the school, family, and community influence a child's nutritional health and provides the teacher with the background needed to teach nutrition with emphasis on strategies for bringing about behaviorchange. The course focuses on skill building in the area of using food in the classroom as a teaching strategy and investigates specific nutrition issues, such as societal and cultural influences on eating habits, body image and eating disorders, sports nutrition, and other nutritional concerns relating to school-age children. Participants will also learn about a healthy school nutrition environment.
