This comprehensive course takes a look at why reading is so difficult for students in Unit 1 of LETRS.  They break it into 8 sessions that include online, reading and on-site facilitation of learning for all eight sessions.  Staff will be exposed to the language process, what the brain research tells us about the learning process, skills to support reading proficiency, what the major reading difficulties are, how to identify quality assessments and use them to impact early intervention and how to utilize assessment to differentiated instruction.  Students in the course will be required to complete 5 hours of online instruction, 4 hours of reading and 3 hours of in-person training.
