Course Detail: HGCD102 - How Girls Code: Mind, Body and Coding (5th-6th Grade)

HGC week-long summer camp inspires and empowers girls to explore the worlds of computer science and robotics and challenges them to go beyond the traditional molds. Girls make up half of the K-12 student population and nearly 60% of college enrollment.  Yet, girls and women are far less likely than boys and men to study computing, earn degrees in engineering or pursue careers in related fields.

At the Mind, Body, & Coding camp, girls will challenge their minds through coding and robotics while nurturing their bodies through meditation and yoga. Each day girls will enjoy block- or text-based programming classes, yoga instruction and robotics workshops.  The girls participate in presentations from guest speakers and tours of the UMBC campus. At the end of this week-long summer coding camp, the girls will showcase their achievements.
