Have little to no experience with Adobe design software? This course outlines the fundamentals of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Learn the basics of image resolution, scanning, image import/export, print setup, photo adjustments and vectors, as well as introductory typography and design. You'll gain a better understanding of how these three software programs work together and independently to create products for print and web. This course offers navigational and introductory essentials, as well as a solid foundation for ongoing design exploration.

Illustrator is a powerful tool that lets artists, illustrators and designers create infinitely scalable vector graphics. Learn how to use the application to create logos and icons, and how to convert drawings to an editable digital format. This course offers a practical overview of Adobe Illustrator's interface, workspace, tools and techniques. You will practice building with shapes, colors, gradients and lines while integrating good use of typography. Skills acquired can be used to design page layouts, website mock-ups or wireframes that add distinction and professionalism to any business or personal project.

Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard for editing raster graphics. This course kicks off with an introduction to its interface, tools and potential application to both web and print. Learn basic techniques for cropping and retouching images as well as for correcting exposure, color and lighting - skills applicable to everything from restoring old photos to manipulating the shot you snapped today. Students also explore more sophisticated features like text, layer and blur effects. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to edit and manipulate photos to create the perfect image or combine multiple images to create an entirely new scene. Aspiring photographers, graphic designers and web designers all benefit from these Photoshop image editing basics. This class satisfies prerequisites for Advanced Adobe Photoshop CC.

In this course, explore how to apply and integrate Adobe Creative Suite skills toward the development of basic print design projects and branding that begin to communicate to various audiences. Are you freelancing, starting a design services-based business, or looking to become a member of an existing design and development team? This course on digital agency operations, business development and project management offers a comprehensive guide to the potential and pitfalls inherent in web-based projects. All aspects of digital agency operations are examined, from finding the right clients and negotiating the best price for your services, to contract writing basics and effectively scheduling and managing your workflow. Perform the steps an operations industry professional follows in planning, running, tracking and completing projects. By the end of this course you will be able to scope potential web-based work, create project tasks and identify and confirm user requirements, including interviewing techniques, and present solutions to common web-based project problems. Prerequisite: Web Design I or Overview of Social Media or equivalent experience.

This course offers a high-level overview of the web as a design medium, an introduction to web graphics, and an introduction to HTML and CSS.  Students will begin to explore the web as a design medium through discussions, readings, explanations and a hands-on approach.  Begin to build skills in the tools and languages used on the web; process images for use on the web; learn the roles of HTML, CSS and Javascript. Explore the importance of a multi-platform, multi-screen approach to web design, learn current development best practices, and develop thoughtful user interface, user experience and information architecture for a website.

Design and build an attractive and functional website to serve as a portfolio for your artistic practice. This course offers a detailed overview of the tools and best practices to create a portfolio style website appropriate for a range of artistic mediums including but not limited to performance, visual arts, photographers, and writers. Learn to use a content management system (CMS) to organize and showcase your work. Appropriate for beginners.
