Basic Business Statistics

Statistics - the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data - permeates and influences our lives. If something can be measured, the science of statistics can be applied to make it more relevant and understandable. Statistical techniques are used to generate valuable insights and shape decisions in many disparate fields. Having a solid foundation in statistics can be valuable in a wide variety of professions.

Using business statistical applications, explore the essential knowledge and concepts of statistics as well as gain a thorough understanding of the properties of probability and their distributions, along with their impact on statistical inference. Learn how to apply these properties to investigate the relationships between various characteristics of data. Understand the fundamentals of data, sampling methods, probability distributions, confidence intervals and more. Discover the basics of inference and association including confidence intervals for proportions, sampling distributions, and the central limit theorem. Students will use calculators and Excel© to solve basic statistics problems. This course will prepare students for Inferential Statistics at UAH.
