Basic Life Support (Instructor-Led Training) - UAH Propulsion Research Center (PRC)
The American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS)certification is designed for healthcare providers and focuses on the essential skills rescuers need to know to perform basic life support.
Upon successful completion of this Instructor-led course, you will be able to:
- Perform high-quality CPR.
- Describe and execute techniques for choking relief for adults, children and infants.
- Describe and execute techniques for choking relief for adults, children and infants.
- Demonstrate the proper use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and barrier device skills.
- Describe the importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation.
To successfully complete the course, participants must pass BLS skills testing and a written exam.
BLS is designed for healthcare in both prehospital and in-facility environments. In-facility refers to hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare facilities including dental offices, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities.
This course is offered in close partnership with the UAH College of Nursing to ensure compliance and best practices are met for new and returning nursing students who are required to maintain annual BLS certification.
