Emotional Intelligence for Leaders - MTM LEAD Academy

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is one of the most significant determining factors in today's high performing leaders. Unlike traditional IQ, which is a fixed measure, EQ can be increased by developing and practicing skills in both personal and social competence. Not only do EQ skills enable individuals to better understand their emotions and manage them into responsible and productive behaviors, they also enable an individual to build strong and trusting relationships with others. In the workplace, theserelationships are critical for leaders to develop teamwork, facilitate problem solving, and drive successful results. This course features a wide variety of interactive activities, role playing, and allows participants to go beyond knowledge of emotional intelligence and put the skills into practice. The course emphasizes the integration of EQ with other leaderships skills learned in this leadership program such as conflict resolution, giving and receiving feedback, and action planning in order to effectively achieve the core responsibilities of management.

  • Recognize the importance of EI in fostering effective communication, decision-making, and team dynamics within your team.

  • Develop verbal/non-verbal communication and active listening skills to foster stronger relationships and communication with team members.
  • Implement strategies for managing emotions effectively and promoting a positive work culture within your department.
  • Create an action plan for integrating emotional intelligence practices into daily leadership routines and decision-making processes.
