Biography: Gary Blount is currently the Assistant Director of Procurement Services at the Cobb County School District (CCSD), which he was promoted to last April. He has worked in public procurement for over 30 years and started with the CCSD back in 2010 as a Senior Buyer. He has worked for various levels of government including the Department of Administrative Services for the State of Georgia, The Technical College System of Georgia, and several county boards of commissioners. Gary is a member of the Georgia Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) and the Governmental Procurement Association of Georgia (GPAG). He obtained his Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) certification in 1995 and the NIGP-CPP (Certified Procurement Professional) certification in July of last year along with a bachelor's degree in Political Science. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his husband of 23 years, their three dogs, and watching sports (especially college football, Go Gators!!).
