Course Detail: HISLDO - Laredo: A Pictorial History
A survey of colorful and eventful history of the border community all the way from the Coahuiltecan and the First Americans of the area to Cabeza de la Vaca, and the explorations of the area by the Spanish. Besides Dr. Jerry Thompson, the class features several experts on the Borderlands and their topics of expertise. Dr. Thompson, an expert on the Civil War in the Southwest, has taught in Laredo for the past 50 years. He is the author or editor of 26 books on the US-Mexico Borderlands and a recent Pulitzer Prize nominee for his biography of Jose de los Santos Benavides. Course cost: $200. * Books not included.*40% of the course fee will support a scholarship for a TAMIU graduate History student.
