DESCRIPTION:Event Description:\n\n223 Film Noir: A Journey Through the Heart of Darkness \n\nFilm noir exploded in the 1940s with dark visuals, morally conflicted characters and stories shaped by the Depression, WWII and early Cold War fears. This course is led by career journalist and professor Dennis Foley, a 1973 graduate of Saginaw Valley College, who brings deep insight into the genre's cultural and historical context. You'll view three double features pairing famous classics with lesser known, low-budget gems to highlight the range of noir filmmaking. Topics include noir's treatment of social issues such as antisemitism, racism, political corruption and organized crime. Expect rich discussion on how these films reflected - and influenced - the anxieties of their time. \n\nEvent Schedule:\n\nEvery week on Thursday, starting on 06/04/26 and ending on 06/18/26\n\nEvent Location:\n\nCurtiss Hall, Room 129\n7400 Bay Rd \nUniversity Center, MI 48710\n
