In this class, discussion will cover the Air War from January 1943 to May 7, 1945. Students will look at the buildup of the 8th Air Force through its growing pairs. The class will also cover the heavy loss of aircraft due to daytime bombing, as well as learn how fighter planes were developed for the protection of escorting bombers. Also included in this class: the preparations for D-Day; raids on Berlin, Dresden, and other German cities; and the shuttle raids to North Africa and the Soviet Union.
