DESCRIPTION:Event Description:\n\nOdyssey 5: Robots and Rovers (Entering Grades 6-8) \n\n<div>Odyssey Science Camp provides area youth an opportunity to experience the excitement of science firsthand. Participants are divided into groups by age and experience. Lab activities are mixed with recreational periods for a well-rounded summer camp experience. Topics and activities include the introduction to scientific principles, building math skills through games, "crime scene" investigations, building and programming robots, renewable energy, and launching model rockets.</div><div><br></div><div><div><b>Odyssey 5-Robots and Rovers (Students entering grades 6-8)&nbsp;</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;mso-fareast-font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">Do you want to build a robot? Do you want to make it move? Build robots, meet robots and learn about what automated systems we rely on every day. More than just an egg drop and slime party, our campers experience real scientific demonstrations and come away with a little more understanding about how their world works and the importance of critical thinking!</span></div></div><div><br></div><div><b>Recreation</b></div><div><div><br></div><div>Two recreational periods are scheduled daily with swimming planned for the afternoon period. Alternate activities will be offered for campers who choose not to swim. These may include board games, nature walks and "Talk Nerdy to Me" chats to learn the importance of science communication.&nbsp;&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><b>Lunch</b></div><div><br></div><div>Participants must bring a sack lunch including a drink.
