Furniture Design Foundation
Learn to design and model your own piece of furniture through making and testing. Study human scale, proportion and composition. Gain a basic understanding of furniture formulation, construction and manufacturing. Working on a full-size model, experience all stages of the design process, including research, ideation, development, testing, refinement, prototyping, documentation and presentation. Topics include: functionality, form, structure and fabrication. Classes will be conducted through lectures, working sessions, critiques and reviews. Estimated supplies costs: $100. Instructors' supplies list available upon registration. This course can be taken independently or serve as the prerequisite among five core required courses in our Furniture Design certificate program.
