Art Now: Concepts and Themes in Contemporary Art

This 10-session course invites participants to explore the art of the 21st Century through key themes and concepts, such as time, space, storytelling, materiality, process, history and memory, and the body. Studying works by an international group of artists, we will consider contemporary art as an intricate network of paths through the global landscape in which we live - posing questions, driving attention, and embarking on a poetic engagement with contemporary life - from the major social issues to intimate personal concerns. By actively participating in the dialogues artists set up with their audiences and finding connections to our own experience, works that might seem obscure or intimidating will gain in accessibility and relevance.
