As advocates for Indiana's thousands of manufacturers, our staff leverages resources in both the public and private sectors to help identify areas of improvement, streamline processes, and ultimately increase competitiveness.
Leading Gen Y and Gen Z
The workforce now predominantly consists of Gen Y and Gen Z, as Baby Boomers retire by the thousands daily. These younger generations have distinct perspectives and motivations compared to Boomers and Gen X. This course equips leaders to understand and effectively manage teams with Gen Y and Gen Z members.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the relationship between leadership behavior and organizational culture.
- Understand the link between generational growth, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, and McClelland's Acquired-Needs Theory.
- Build a new perspective about motivational techniques.
- Identify the leadership implications of explaining 'Why' and using a participative leadership approach.
- Describe intrinsic and extrinsic ways to motivate your employees.
Intended Audience: Anyone in a leadership role within their organization.
This course will be delivered online. Classes will be facilitated by a live instructor during the scheduled course times. Participants should have a computer with a strong internet connection, a working microphone, and speakers. Students are required to utilize the camera and microphone to participate in this interactive class. Class participation enhances the online learning experience. Your instructor will send a meeting link to all students once registration has closed.
About the Instructor
Stalin Encarnación is an electromechanical engineer with nearly 20 years of expertise. He spent 10 years at Purdue Research Park, where he worked as an engineer, project lead, and research engineer. He provides workforce development training and consulting services and delivers a variety of training and workshops including Problem-Solving Using PDCA, A3, and Root-Cause Analysis; Project Management; Emotional Intelligence; and the Leadership Skills for Success series. He is also responsible for creating Spanish learning materials and delivering workshops to the Spanish-speaking workforce. He has overseen many aspects of the business, including operations and manufacturing, engineering, hardware and software development, quality assurance, and project management.
