Session Descriptions:
- Creativity in General Music Students and Ensemble Musicians: In this session, teachers will be lead through a series of interactive activities to provide hands-on lessons for fostering creativity in music teaching.
- Music Literacy for General Music Students and Ensemble Musicians: Though teaching literacy in musical classes has long been an element of the music curriculum, this session will address emerging notions of music literacy in 21st music classes.
- Cultivating Empathy and Compassion in Music Classes: As COVID-19 is considered by mental health experts as "the greatest threat to mental health since the second world war" (Sample, 2020), post-COVID music classes might benefit from greater empathy and compassion.This session will provide strategies and practical lessons to cultivate safe classrooms for all students.
