THE SESSIONS
Session 1: Anyone Can Make Music - This overview class will provide a brief history of audio recording. It will also address common questions such as: How does modern recording work? What kind of equipment do you need?
Session 2: Time to Press Record - This class will cover home recording basics and workflow, microphone use and placement, analog recording vs. digital recording, multi-track recording, and 'How to be a one-man-band'.
Session 3: I Don't Know Any Drummers - This class will cover how to uses modules and sequencers. It will offer a MIDI overview, an introduction to software instruments, or how to make music if you can't play an instrument.
Session 4: Why Doesn't It Sound Good? - This class is an introduction to editing, mixing, and mastering. (aka 'How to sound like a pro') It will also cover advanced workflow techniques and strategies and industry standards for formatting and loudness.
Session 5: Now What? - This class will provide additional resources for the home recording enthusiast, how to share your music,collaborate online, and will include a final Q&A session.
Instructor Kyle Ratayczak is a life-long, formally trained multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer. He's played in symphony orchestras, award winning jazz ensembles, and really awful garage bands. When he's not working as a Sweetwater Sales Engineer, he's busy tracking and mixing records, perfecting his margarita recipe, and watching ice hockey.
