Landscape Painting in Watercolor

Using the wealth of picturesque subjects and vistas on the Garden's grounds, learn several approaches to landscape painting with watercolor, beginning with sketch development. In this class, you'll explore the emphasis of composition and use of color. Prior experience in watercolor is not required.

Additional information:
The first session of the class will focus on watercolor brushwork and color mixing in the classroom. The second day will include painting outside on Garden grounds. Exact outdoor location to be announced during the first session of the class.

Instructor:	Elissa Gore Elissa Gore Elissa Gore Elissa Gore has shared her passion for nature through landscape painting for over forty years. Previously a certified medical illustrator and professor of fine art, she now paints full-time. She often travels to paint outdoors on site and later develops these studies into large works on paper and canvas. She has had more than fifteen solo exhibitions and her work is in sixty public collections including the US Art in Embassies program. She participates frequently in plein air painting competitions and was awarded prizes four times in 2013. In New York City, she is represented by Markel Fine Arts and in Scarsdale by Madelyn Jordan Fine Art. Elissa has taught at NYBG since 1984.
