Urban Ecology Field Study - BLENDED


This blended class meets online for some sessions and on NYBG grounds for others. Registered students will receive login instructions and a syllabus with specifics.
Learn to measure and monitor the ecological diversity observed and celebrated in and around New York City environs. Practice using field techniques for recording observations in nature while walking along trails in the Garden. Explore the biodiversity within your chosen study patch and incorporate methods for assessing vegetation, animal life, and habitats. You will prepare a report based on data collected and presented in class, which will become part of your final project. Prerequisites: one of the Native Flora classes AND either Natural History of Insects OR one of the Natural History of Birds classes.
