Course Detail: AD2030 - Group Counseling

Through didactic learning, collaboration, discussion and role playing, participants will become familiar with the parameters, function and purpose of various types of groups, including support groups. The participant will develop a basic understanding of group stages, focusing specifically on conflict and cohesion, group dynamics, intervention techniques, and the leadership and skill techniques necessary to successfully manage and facilitate each phase of group dynamics. Participants will apply counseling theories and techniques inherent to the group milieu and will identify client concerns, developing effective clinical plans for the group and the individual. 25 HrsSocial Work CreditPrerequisite: Foundational Counseling (AD2010)
