Course Detail: MA1530 - Medical Office Procedures & Assisting Skills
Students working toward the Medical Assistant Certificate should commence their studies with this course. A medical practice has many facets. This course is designed to give you an overview of medical office operations. You will learn to perform office responsibilities such as vital signs, exam room preparation, patient data collection, lab tests, phlebotomy. You will also learn to perform administrative office responsibilities such as reception, proper phone etiquette, insurance monitoring, and record maintenance. You will become familiar with universal precautions and basic laboratory procedures performed in physician offices. This new knowledge will help you launch a new career path. No prerequisites required. Required Textbook: Comprehensive Medical Assisting by Kronenberger and Ledbetter, 6th Edition, Published by Jones & Bartlett Learning. Purchase online from Amazon.com or any reputable retailer. Also, please purchase a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope for your personal use. The course is 27 hour including a 5 hour skills workshop.
