Course Detail: SW3000 - Sound the Alarm: The Crisis of Mental Health in Communities of Color

The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened our awareness of racial disparities and threats to multiple aspects of well-being. Our society is witnessing an increasingly high demand for mental health services, which further complicates access for people of color. There aren't enough clinicians of color to respond to requests from people of color seeking clinicians with similar racial and ethnic backgrounds. This workshop seeks to engage participants in a discussion of the complex realities of racial disparities in the field of mental health and present solution-focused strategies for micro and macro levels of clinical practice. The workshop is created for students, clinicians (social workers, psychologists, mental health professionals), administrators and advocates committed to working with communities of color. SW CE Hrs = 2Workshop presenters: Lisa Newland, Amanda Fludd, Katiuscia Gray
