Course Detail: YES-6009 - Draw, Design, Discover: Math in Art (Grades 6-8)

Bring math to life through creativity and artistic expression! In this hands-on class, students will explore mathematical concepts by creating unique art projects inspired by their own interests and imagination. From princesses and superheroes to Halloween, animals, and outer space, students can choose themes that make each project their own. Students will discover how geometric shapes and angle relationships work together to create beautiful tessellations, use fractions to design colorful fraction flowers, and apply proportions to draw a scaled self-portrait or figure. Along the way, they will strengthen their understanding of geometry, fractions, measurement, and problem-solving while creating artwork they can proudly display. No matter what their artistic experience, students will see how math and creativity go hand in hand!
