Course Detail: YES-3121 - Model Aircraft Engineers: Design, Build & Fly (Grades 1-3)

Take to the skies in Model Aircraft Engineers: Design, Build & Fly! In this hands-on STEM class, students will explore the basic principles of flight and learn about aircraft components, structures, and systems. Using their new knowledge, students will design aircraft blueprints and bring their ideas to life by constructing model airplanes from balsa wood, paper, and cardboard. Throughout the class, students will test, refine, and improve their designs while developing problem-solving, engineering, and critical-thinking skills. The class culminates in exciting test flights and a friendly balsa wood glider competition where students can showcase their creations. Students will also enjoy demonstrations featuring large-scale remote-controlled (RC) aircraft, providing an up-close look at aviation technology in action. Perfect for aspiring engineers, pilots, inventors, and anyone who loves airplanes and hands-on building projects!
