Course detail: Radar and Lidar Instructor

An informative and interactive class that takes current law enforcement radar and Lidar operators and goes further to create instructor level knowledge. 

This class goes beyond the NHTSA operator training and covers Fastest Vehicle mode, Vehicle Speed Sensor connections in the car and Tracking History and why it is so important. Lidar testing, target aiming, error traps, Panning, Sweep Effect and other anomalies of traffic Lidar.

Participants will also learn how to properly test a radar, setup a test course for Lidar, outside testing with the Lidar and how to properly hold the Lidar.

This class is recommended for law enforcement officers who work with traffic enforcement. As an instructor, you will be qualified to teach new operators in speed enforcement using both radar and Lidar equipment.

Course Objectives:  
  • Discuss existing precedent setting court cases.
  • Discuss how these speed enforcement tools can be used to reduce accidents caused by speed. 
  • Identify the importance of proper testing of the radar and Lidar.  
  • Justify why proper case preparation is vitally important for any court challenge.
  • Define and describe the reasons for proper Tracking History.
