Course detail: What the Medicaid Fraud & Abuse Division Can Do For You

Introduction to the Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division of the Kansas Attorney General's Office will engage in critical awareness of crimes committed by health care providers and personal care attendants though lectures, discussion and case studies. 

This course will focus on how the Division can assist with investigations in conjunction with local Law Enforcement throughout the state. Training is provided by a Senior Assistant Attorney General, Special Agent and Senior Registered Nurse Investigator. 

Course Objectives
  • Provide information about the Kansas Medicaid Program, what the Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division does, and how Law Enforcement can assist in investigating such crimes and other related offenses with the goal of successful prosecution. 
  • Identify the ways a nurse can assist with investigations of physical, sexual, and financial abuse within long term care facilities through the discussion of case studies. 
  • Demonstrate the importance of the early investigation of crimes committed within long term care facilities, analyze the types of crimes committed that are affecting Kansas Medicaid recipients, and explore interviewing of different subjects involved in these crimes.
