Course detail: Emerging Trends and Topics Surrounding Domestic Violence
This training effort has been funded through the Improving Criminal Justice Responses (ICJR) Grant by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice. The Governor's Advisory Council on Domestic and Sexual Violence Response developed discipline-specific domestic and sexual violence training for professionals in the criminal justice system with the purpose of creating a consistent coordinated response to victims of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
The training will provide comprehensive, up-to-date information to address basic, as well as new and emerging issues, and moves beyond information-based training towards building skills.This course will explore topics and emerging trends in the area of domestic violence. The focus will on offender accountability with the understanding that stronger domestic violence investigations and prosecutions may impact future criminal behavior and save lives. Topics include: Lethality, domination tactics, strangulation, stalking, protection orders, and impact of trauma.
