Course Detail: MGT.818 - Dental Assistant
This program prepares students for entry-level positions in a growing healthcare industry. The course will familiarize students with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant. Administrative topics include the history of dentistry and dental assisting, introduction to the dental office, the legal aspects of dentistry, policies and guidelines. Clinical aspects include introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure, primary and permanent teeth, the oral cavity and related structures, proper patient positioning, dental hand-pieces, sterilization and more. This program meets the requirements to take the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and Radiology Health and Safety (RHS) Examination. As part of the program, you will be eligible for a 40-hour clinical externship. Offered in partnership with CCI. Includes books and supplies. Costs not included: AHA BLS CPR certification, uniform, health and safety requirements, certification exams. Prerequisite: high school equivalent and at least 18 years old.
