Course Detail: LLC.118 - 3D Printing Vocational/After 22

In this hands-on class, students will dive into the world of 3D printing, learning how to use basic 3D printers, digital models, and related software. Students will create and print various products, while also being encouraged to think critically about designing a new product that could solve a common problem. Additionally, they will explore how 3D printing is utilized across different industries, from healthcare to manufacturing.

Debra Daun

Biography:

As MakerLab Specialist, Debra Daun manages two Makerspaces for Joliet Junior College: MakerLab at Main Campus and the 3D Printing/Virtual Reality Lab at Romeoville Campus. In addition to assisting members and students with their projects, she maintains all equipment and teaches STEM-related community classes through Corporate & Community Services. She constantly refines the MakerLab program to keep it current with rapidly changing technologies.

Already possessing a degree in Biology, Debra also received a Computer Graphic Technology degree from Kankakee Community College at age 60. She has taught as an adjunct professor for KCC's Technology Department.

Her ultimate wish is to develop 3D modeling and printing education through the MakerLab program into a formal training program for the rapidly growing field of Additive Manufacturing.
