Course Detail: PER322 - Chicago Shakespeare Theater Bus Trip: "The Taming of the Shrew"

Experience the theater. Join us for a day trip to Chicago October 21!

Artistic Director Barbara Gaines re-examines Shakespeare's notorious "battle of the sexes." On the eve of the passing of the 19th Amendment in 1919, a band of Suffragettes embarks on a production of The Taming of the Shrew. Framed with additional text by Ron West, longtime performer and writer at Second City, this new interpretation features an all-woman cast to explore one of the Bard's most delightfully controversial comedies. Shakespeare's men are seen through the eyes of women, as sexual politics and power, human rights, and true love are debated with wit and style.

Bus picks up from IPFW Kettler Hall circle drive. Bus departs IPFW campus promptly at 8 a.m. E.S.T. and arrives in Chicago early for sightseeing and shopping. The performance begins at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier at 3 p.m. C.S.T. Bus returns back to campus by 11 p.m. E.S.T.

Registration fee includes bus fare, matinee ticket and lecture presentation on the bus by Dr. Stapleton. Lunch will be on your own and there will be a bus stop outside of Chicago for a dinner break.
