DESCRIPTION:Event Description:\n\nCertified Peer Recovery Specialist Success Program (IDMH Project Success) \n\n<title></title>&nbsp;<title></title><p><strong>Certified Recovery Support Specialist Success Program&nbsp;</strong></p><p><b>Course Fees:</b> $3,000 to $3,300</p><p><b>Dates:</b> &nbsp;August 22, 2026 - June 30, 2027</p><p><b>Times:</b> Meeting Schedule Determined by Instructors</p><p><b>Course Description:</b>&nbsp;</p><p>The Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Success Program will provide high quality recovery support training with supervised practical experience and wrap-around supports.&nbsp; Coordinated by post-secondary educational institutions for individuals with lived experience of mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use recovery.</p><p><strong>All registrations must be approved before enrolling by GSU's Addictions Program.&nbsp;</strong></p><p>If you have questions regarding the Peer Recovery training programs or are interested in signing up for future programs please contact <a href="mailto:prssgsu@govst.edu">prssgsu@govst.edu</a></p><p>The&nbsp;<strong>Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Success Program</strong>&nbsp;will provide high quality recovery support training with supervised practical experience and wrap-around supports.&nbsp; Coordinated by post-secondary educational institutions for individuals with lived experience of mental health, substance use, or co-occurring mental health and substance use recovery.</p><p>The 4-course program contains 28 four-hour modules totaling 110 hours and a 300 hour internship:</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;"><strong>Course 1</strong>: Intro to Peer Recovery Support, Etiological Models of Addiction, Peer Support, Coaching, etc., Stages &amp; Processes of Change, Interpersonal Comm/Relations, Relapse Prevention, Screening, Case Mgmt. &amp; Tx, Advocacy &amp; Access, Wellness Plans/WRAP, Multicultural Awareness, Process for ILL Certification.</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;"><strong>Course 2</strong>: Psychopharmacology, Psychopharmacology (cont.), Professional Ethics, Medication Assisted Treatment, Behavioral/Process Addiction, Special Populations, Assessment &amp; Referral Options, Family Dynamics, Trauma Impact &amp; Implications, Lifestyle Skills &amp; Resilience.</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;"><strong>Course 3:&nbsp;</strong>Working With Groups, Comorbid SUDs/Mental Health<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>Adolescents, Effective Coaching Techniques<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>Crisis Response &amp; Suicide Prev.<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>Tx Options &amp; Environments<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>Addiction as Disease of Despair<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>Universal Protection.</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;"><b>Course 4: </b>300 hour active internship accompanied by a weekly Governors State University supervision session.&nbsp;</p><p><b>All registrations must be approved before enrolling by GSU's Addictions Program.&nbsp;</b></p><grammarly-desktop-integration data-grammarly-shadow-root="true"></grammarly-desktop-integration> \n\nEvent Schedule:\n\nEvery day, starting on 08/22/26 and ending on 10/24/26\n\nEvent Location:\n\nOnline via Blackboard; Course 1 of 4\n1 University Parkway \nUniversity Park, IL 60484\n
