No image available Dr. Simon Sultana is a computer science and engineering education professional with extensive experience spanning industry and higher education. He earned a PhD in Occupational and Technical Studies from Old Dominion University, an MBA and MS in Electrical Engineering from Wayne State University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Before transitioning to higher education, Dr. Sultana spent a decade as an electrical engineer in the automotive industry, including leadership roles with Chrysler and Motorola. He currently serves as a Computer Science Instructor at Reedley College and previously held program leadership positions at Fresno Pacific University and DeVry University. His passion is preparing educators and students with practical skills for technical fields, emphasizing the importance of introducing computer science early so students can envision future opportunities. Dr. Sultana has also dedicated 20 years to youth soccer coaching and 15 years to refereeing and assigning, reflecting his commitment to mentorship and community.

Information Technology Basics for Schools
This course is the first in a series of Computer Science Authorization courses that enable teachers to be credentialed to teach Computer Science and is designed to fulfill requirements for the California Computer Science Supplemental Authorization, but may be taken by those not seeking the Supplemental Authorization.

Computing Practices & Programming
Computer science has become a core discipline in our society and algorithmic thinking and problem-solving have become important skills. This online PD course aims to prepare educators to teach K-12 students in all curricular areas. Participants will learn several California K-12 Computer Science Standards and will utilize popular and accessible programming languages.

Data Structures, Algorithms, & Software Engineering
The course aims to prepare educators to successfully teach advanced computer programming for high school students in all curricular areas. Students will continue to develop their background in computer programming with the study of data structures; including arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, and hash tables. Algorithms to manage these structures will also be a focus, including searching and sorting.
