Sharon Owyang brings a wealth of experience and passion for teaching, learning, curriculum integration, and professional development. With an MS in Educational Leadership and a BA in Home Economics with a minor in Sociology, she has served as a middle and high school teacher, Teacher Team Leader, Mentor Teacher, Curriculum and Professional Development Coordinator, and grant writer. Sharon specializes in integrating core academics with effective learning strategies, helping educators create engaging lessons, scaffold learning, and make the most of teachable moments. Her professional development courses emphasize research-based, high-yield instructional strategies, addressing the achievement gap, and strengthening student success in English Language Arts. A Fresno, California, native, Sharon is an active member of First Chinese Baptist Church in Fresno. She enjoys traveling and has explored destinations throughout Asia and Europe. Sharon looks forward to sharing practical, timely resources that inspire teachers and enhance learning experiences in classrooms.

How can teachers inspire learning in the K-12 classroom? Enhance student achievement by pairing strategies with course content. Instructional Strategies to Inspire Learning is designed for teachers to implement Robert Marzano's nine strategies with additional McREL 2010 research to increase achievement. Teachers will apply a framework for instructional planning with strategies that creates an engaging classroom environment that inspires learning.

Achievement Gap: Teacher's Role
Engage and motivate students to learn and achieve even when they are falling short of standards and achievement. This course will apply intentional teaching with high-yield learning strategies. Examine how to create small specific adjustments to lesson planning, teaching, and assessment practices that will engage students, at-risk students, English Language Learners and Special Education students.

Essential Strategies for Understanding in ELA engages teachers from all disciplines, K-12th grade, to examine seven thinking strategies for your Educator-Strategy Toolbox for in-person, virtual or hybrid classrooms. The essential meaning making strategies are: Conceptualizing, Note Making and Summarizing, Comparing, Reading for Understanding, Predicting and Hypothesizing, Visualizing and Graphic Representation, and Perspective Taking and Empathizing.
