Overview

This course is a "Core course" that is part of the Graduate Certificate in Aviation. This 2.5-days, 20-hours course is created for aviation industry financial and accounting professionals to improve on their skills in analyzing balance sheets and financial statements, aviation budgeting and financing techniques, and aviation fuel hedging techniques.

Learning Objectives

By attending this course, participants will be better able to:
  • Learn to read and interpret an airline balance sheet and an airline financial statement
  • Learn the airline financial reporting process and financial planning
  • Understand airline key performance evaluation and control process
  • Learn aircraft investment appraisal techniques
  • Understand the different types of financing, the leasing market, loans, the basic legal documents, leases, sub leasing, maintenance, operations and return condition
  • Learn aviation fuel hedging techniques, using the latest financial tools to manage jet fuel price, risk management, Value at Risk, applications of options, Commodity Swaps, Forward and Futures Contracts, and best practices

Additional Information

Students may only drop a course through the Professional Education & Training without transcript notation or financial penalty during the drop period. All drop requests or session transfer requests require written communication by the student in order to be processed. Due to the short duration of courses, the drop period ends on the fourth business day of each session. Course fees will not be refunded after the conclusion of the drop period unless an exception request is submitted and granted. After the drop period, students can elect to transfer enrollment to a future session of the same course for a 25% administrative fee.
