Overview

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's (ERAU) Aviation Maintenance Management is designed for corporate flight department personnel who will maintain aircraft and installed components in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and pertinent regulations. Course content examines best practices in order to provide safe, secure, and efficient transportation of passengers and products, and maintain aircraft spares, supplies, and other inventories by following appropriate regulations and industry practices in order to minimize downtime and provide for efficient, safe service. Students will also learn how to standardize technical reviews in the flight department by requiring all staff to adhere to uniform practices and accepted procedures in order to provide quality service. This course is part of Embry-Riddle's Corporate Aviation Management Certificate (CAMC) program.

This course awards 1.6 Continuing Education Units upon completion. (CEU)

Course Objectives

  • Standard inventory control procedures, concepts of maintenance inventory control, and available inventory control packages, systems, and tools
  • Shipping, receiving, securing, and storing regulations and requirements
  • Corporate procurement practices and financial constraints
  • Sources of quality spares
  • Basic principles required in an effective aviation department maintenance manual management of maintenance resource
  • Human factors in maintenance resource management
  • Training requirements, pay standards, and work environments
  • Issues of passenger satisfaction regarding reliability, service, catering, baggage, scheduling, benchmarking, and passenger profiles
  • Aviation regulation requirements

Course Information

This is an online asynchronous instructor facilitated course with weekly modules and assignments, but no scheduled meeting times. Students should plan to spend approximately 10-15 hours per week working through the course. Coursework is web-based with no additional software required, although a reliable internet connection is recommended. All courses open 48 business hours in advance of each start date, and must be completed by their scheduled end dates. Digital certificates are available upon successful completion of individual courses. Printed certificates are mailed only upon completion of a full certificate program.
