Overview

This course is a "Core course" that is part of the Graduate Certificate in Aviation. This 2.5-days, 20-hours course in Production and Procurement is specifically created for aviation industry professionals to further develop their analytical and critical thinking skills to apply fundamental concepts of production management and procurement processes to the aviation and aerospace industries, with a particular emphasis on the Asia-Pacific Region.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should understand operations strategy, product design, process design and analysis, capacity planning, lean production systems, and the procurement process from sourcing to managing suppliers. Case studies on production and procurement in aviation in Asia will be used for discussion. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand key concepts and issues of Production Management and Procurement
  • Understand capacity planning and lean production system
  • Apply analytical skills and problem-solving tools to the analysis of the production and procurement problems
  • Understand Purchasing and Procurement concepts, procedures and models
  • Evaluate each stage of purchasing development
  • Analyse the procurement expenditures for improvement

Additional Information

Students may only drop a course through the Professional Education & Training without transcript notation or financial penalty during the drop period. All drop requests or session transfer requests require written communication by the student in order to be processed. Due to the short duration of courses, the drop period ends on the fourth business day of each session. Course fees will not be refunded after the conclusion of the drop period unless an exception request is submitted and granted. After the drop period, students can elect to transfer enrollment to a future session of the same course for a 25% administrative fee.
