Overview

Embark on a transformative learning journey with our comprehensive course focused on All-Enterprise Emergency Response and Resilience. Explore key concepts, master essential skills, and gain a deep understanding of the significance of emergency response, resilience, and business continuity, and their impact on an enterprise. The Emergency Response Course will discuss the nature of emergencies and natural disasters in a company, with a focus on how emergency response, resilience, and business continuity can mitigate the impact on the enterprise.  Course participants will become familiar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS), understand how their internal Emergency Response Team can interface with the ICS.  Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to systematically develop and/or analyze an Emergency Response Plan (ERP).  Participants will become familiar with the challenges of implementing their ERP and assessing its effectiveness.  Finally, participants will become familiar with best practices from a variety of industries.

Attendees will hear from subject matter experts including an airline Vice President of Flight Operations and gain valuable knowledge in understanding how to effectively provide leadership and support to develop and implement policy and procedures to ensure safety and efficient operations, with a focus on risk mitigation and emergency preparedness. 

This course can be completed independently, or toward the Embry-Riddle Certificate of Management in Aircraft Accident Investigation

Course Objectives

Explore key concepts, master essential skills, and gain a deep understanding of the significance of emergency response, resilience, and business continuity, and their impact on an enterprise. By the end of this course, students will emerge equipped with the knowledge and proficiency needed to: 

  • Identify the basis of emergency response through the lens of safety management systems, resilience, and business continuity. 
  • Identify the key components of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) with an eye toward key interfaces. 
  • Evaluate enterprise exposure to the risk of an accident, incident and/or emergency. 
  • Construct an effective All-Hazards Emergency Response Plan (ERP). 
  • Explain the steps necessary to assess an ERP and help ensures its efficacy. 

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Course Format

The best of both worlds, this course can be completed online or in person:
Online Course - An asynchronous, self-paced online course with access to a subject matter expert and optional synchronous online meetings.
In-Person Course - An intensive, face-to-face course at the Daytona Beach Campus with direct access to subject matter expertise and beneficial learning and networking opportunities.

Cancellation Policy

A cancellation charge of $150 will be assessed on any standard cancellations. A late cancellation charge of 25% of the course registration fee will be assessed on cancellations occurring within 14 days of the start of the course. Schedule: The course is offered as an online, asynchronous course from January 27 - February 21, 2025. The instructor will provide virtual office hours, to supplement learning objectives and review content. The final schedule will be confirmed by the instructor. If content is covered during the virtual office sessions, they will be recorded and posted to the course.
