Overview

The HFACS Advanced Course is a premier, instructor led  training designed to deepen your expertise in the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS)  framework - a safety tool that helps organizations identify human causes of safety failures and implement preventative training. This course goes beyond the foundational concepts covered in the introductory 2-day HFACS course, delving into advanced strategies for integrating proactive safety tools and data analytics into the HFACS framework. You will gain the skills needed to enhance safety analysis, identify potential hazards, and implement effective safety interventions, helping create a proactive safety culture.

You will learn how to: 

  • Solidify your understanding of the HFACS framework, focusing on the organizational, supervisory, and individual levels of analysis. 
  • Explore proactive advanced safety tools, including Safety Management Systems (SMS), Safety Culture Assessments, Risk Assessments, and Human Error Prediction tools.
  • Become proficient in integrating proactive safety tools into the HFACS framework to identify latent conditions and organizational factors that contribute to safety failures and incidents, including:
    • Gap Analysis
    • Change Management
    • Red Light/Green Light
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, patterns, and potential safety risks. 
  • Develop and apply effective safety interventions based on HFACS analysis and proactive tools. 
  • Effectively implement HFACS methodologies, proactive safety tools, and data analytics in your organization by gaining insights into industry best practices. 
The HFACS-Advanced Course can be completed independently, or as an elective in the Certificate of Management in Aircraft Accident Investigation.

Course Modality

This is an online, virtual, synchronous instructor led course with a continuous live session offered during the two-day scheduled timeframe (6 hours). The course will consist of  lecture, interactive sessions and practical exercises, hosted in Zoom.  Attendees will be provided with the information for the Zoom virtual session one week prior to the course start date. We highly recommend attendees ensure their undivided attention is available to ensure a successful and rewarding learning environment.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Embry-Riddle will award 1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to each attendee who successfully completes the course. Each attendee will receive a digital Certificate of Completion for completing the course.

Cancellation Policy

A cancellation charge of $150 will be assessed on any standard cancellations. A late cancellation charge of 25% of the course registration fee will be assessed on cancellations occurring within 14 days of the start of the course.
